About The Original 70's Paper Lace

In 1973, the TV talent show Opportunity Knocks became the first real break for Paper Lace, winning the public’s vote five times and so appearing on the TV show for total of 6 weeks in succession, they were spotted by hit songwriters Mitch Murray and Peter Callender and their recording career took flight. Paper Lace hit the No.1 spot in the UK in 1974 with their excellent single 'Billy Don't Be A Hero'. That same year, their follow up single 'The Night Chicago Died' hit the No.1 spot in the U.S selling over 3 million copies, going on to be the biggest selling single worldwide in 1974!
