The Human League

Formed in the late 1970s by Sheffield-based computer programmers Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware, The Human League evolved into one of the seminal '80s electro pop bands. Fronted by former hospital porter, Philip Oakey, and featuring Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall, the band went on to record some of the most influential songs of the decade.

ABC

ABC are one of those groups who come along once a decade to effect a paradigm shift in the way music is heard and made, one of those groups who move the music forward, alerting us to the possibilities of strange combinations, employing radical ideas yet never confusing arrogance with ambition. They kick-started the Eighties with their own brand of pop for the new decade. Fusing dance floor finesse with a post-punk attitude they released their first single, ‘Tears Are Not Enough’, in the autumn of 1981. More hits followed in rapid succession. ‘Poison Arrow’, ‘The Look Of Love’ and ‘All Of My Heart’. On its release in May 1982 their debut album ‘The Lexicon of Love’ crashed straight into the album charts at number one. Although they continued to release more albums over the years, they eventually made an acclaimed sequel to their debut, releasing 'The Lexicon of Love II' in 2017. ABC continue to tour extensively throughout the world, playing sell-out concerts from London‘s Royal Albert Hall to California’s Hollywood Bowl. Whether performing as a band, or performing with an Orchestra, Martin Fry remains the consummate show man.

The Christians

Formed in Liverpool in 1986 The Christians went on to become one of the UK's biggest soul bands with hits like 'Ideal World' and 'Harvest for the World'. A unique blend of soul, gospel and heartfelt acoustic pop, topped off by Garry Christian's distinctive vocals. Still sporting the Raybans, incredibly rich and sultry voice and the string of gorgeous songs that made a million women swoon.

The band – Bruce Watson (guitars/vocals); Mark Brzezicki (drums, vocals); Jamie Watson (guitars/vocals) will be augmented on stage by singer/guitarist Simon Hough and bassist Scott Whitley. Formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members, the late Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson, both native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. Initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric, the classic Big Country sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. This is the Big Country that (with Producer Steve Lillywhite), recorded the classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in 1983. The band broke massively worldwide with the release of the album’s classic singles ‘Fields Of Fire’, ‘Chance’ and signature song ‘In A Big Country’, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving ‘The Crossing’ to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the USA. The run of success continued throughout the 1980s with the release of the anthemic single ‘Wonderland’ and the second album ‘Steeltown’ (1984), which debuted at Number 1 in the UK and contained the hit singles ‘East Of Eden, ‘Just a Shadow’ and ‘Where The Rose Is Sown’.
