Nouvelle Vague

Nouvelle Vague was started by well known French trip-hop / jazz producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux. The name is a pun on the term 'new wave' as well as being used to describe 'bossa nova' in Portugese. For this project the duo took songs they loved by bands such as Joy Division and The Cure then re-interpreted them, using young female vocalists who'd never heard the originals. The result is an intoxicating mix of bossa nova, jazz and sixties pop.
