Architectural Historian Linda Hall shares her extensive knowledge of local architecture, and the clues it gives us about a building's age / past. This illustrated talk looks at the building styles and materials of local houses (and a barn!), including many that you can still see today, from medieval times through to the 1600s, in both town and country.
Linda Hall was instrumental in discovering the true age of Winterbourne Medieval Barn, and in highlighting the rarity and importance of the building. She studied archaeology and history at Southampton University, and a particular study on vernacular architecture in south Gloucestershire. She has had books published on both vernacular buildings and on period house fittings and fixtures, and is truly an expert on these things.
Her talk starts at 7pm and will also be live-streamed on Zoom (link sent out by 6pm).
The Barn and bar open at 6.30pm. Seating is unreserved. Free parking on site. Book online at Ticketsource or the Barn website.
