Shrek the Musical

Featuring a wealth of local talent of all ages from 10 to nearly 80, Winterbourne Musical Theatre presents the wonderful comedy Shrek the Musical, based on the Dreamworks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…." Thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wise-cracking donkey and a feisty princess who resists her own rescue. Throw in a dictatorial baddie, a gingerbread man with attitude, and other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily there's one on hand.... and his name is Shrek.

The show has all the humour of the original film, with Shrek and Donkey sent by Lord Farquaad to rescue Princess Fiona from her dragon-guarded tower, with a little help from an assorted crowd of displaced fairytales characters.

Shrek the Musical runs from Wednesday 14 May to Sunday 18 May at WADCA Community Centre, Watleys End Road, Winterbourne, BS36 1QG. Wednesday - Friday performances start at 7.30pm.
