Haydn String Quartet Op 33 No 2 in E flat ‘Joke’
Ravel String Quartet
Mozart String Quartet in C major K465 ‘Dissonance’

Three timeless masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire are performed by one of today’s most exciting young ensembles. Haydn is the only composer who can actually make you laugh out loud, and his ‘Joke’ quartet opens a programme which ends with one of Mozart’s finest quartets dedicated to Haydn. The programme is completed by utterly gorgeous music by Ravel in the year of his 150th anniversary.

Marmen String Quartet

The Marmen String Quartet was founded in late 2012, its members having already collaborated extensively in various other chamber music settings. Formed of four strong individuals each with extensive performing experience across the globe - from Carnegie Hall to Wigmore Hall - the Marmen Quartet has been recognised for its personal sound and honest interpretations. Their love of chamber music combined with a mutual interest in a wide spectrum of musical eras and styles remains the fundamental inspiration for the group.
